The explosive Big Fat Electric Ceilidh is blowing audiences away around Scotland with their high energy ceilidh experience mixing up ceilidh culture and club culture.
BFEC have created a fresh and new contemporary Scottish ceilidh experience that has pushed the boundaries of the ceilidh tradition bringing it right into the 21st Century. Dancing to live original electronic dance music mixed with live pipes, fiddle and scorching guitar in a club environment with fantastic visual projections, it is truly a phenomenal experience.
Producer and electronic musician Dave Martin brought together a team of experienced and professional Scottish musicians and hardened Ceilidh players as well as one of the North East’s top visual artists to work with The Big Fat Electric Ceilidh, which has given the event its unique sound, energy and identity.
The BFEC was originally developed in partnership in 2010 with the National Theatre of Scotland as part of "EXTREME" which was a event/installation/series of performances and productions in Aberdeen which received fantastic reviews and award nominations. As a part of Extreme the BFEC, then known as Extreme Ceilidh, performed at the Beach Ballroom Aberdeen and a further 12 performances as part of the critically acclaimed "Nothing To See Here" which was nominated for a CATS award as well as a sell out at the Music Hall Aberdeen as part of the Culture Crush weekend in July 2011.
Since then BFEC have been exciting audiences all over Scotland and their performance at the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh Festival 2012 was rated the highlight of the Assembly Rooms 2012 fringe programme.
The BFEC is also ideal for corporate events and for those that want something different for their wedding celebrations. BFEC can personalise the visual design to make the experience more personal to the event, festival or celebrations.
